Two Clubs. Octagon and Time. Any want to see a fight to the death between them? Thought you would...

Welcome Ladies And Gentlemen to this fight to the death. Please cover your faces when the blood and guts start flying, as we do not pay compensation or dry-cleaning bills. As we all watch the two Bangor Clubs battle it out; please make sure all bets are placed before the starting bell, and that you do not help or hinder either of our contestants. Thats enough with the formalities.
LETS GET IT ON!!!

In the Red Corner... Weighing in at about 70-80 tons, the pensioner of the two contestants, but don't bet too much against it as its recently had a face-lift; all the way from Dean Street, it's the OCTAGON.

And in the Blue Corner... Weighing in at about the same weight, the sparky upstart of the two, heres where my money's going; coming from the slopes of Glanrafon Hill, it's TIME.

I want a good clean fight. No punching below the belt, No Spitting, No Trance or Hard-House Music from either of you. I mean it, any music I can do 'the cube' to, and I'll disqualify the both of you. Touch gloves, Two paces back, Wait for the Bell...*Ding Ding*

Time
Time is the Bangor Students Union. Therefore, it is generally cheap to get in, drinks are quite cheap too, and the music is geared more towards students. Time has two rooms, the Dance Room and the Curved/Chill Room. The bar is in the Dance room, which makes ordering a pint difficult 'cos its so loud; but the bar is really long and there are plenty of staff so you get served really quickly. The Curved Room is really big, plenty of room to sit in there, and you can also buy food (Mondays and Fridays usually).

Music:Monday nights are 60's/70's/80's night. Its free to get in (which is superb), and the music they play is really cool. Thankfully, they play very little 80's music. Everyone knows the only good music to come out of the 80's was Heavy Metal, and they don't tend to play much of this in Time.
Friday nights are like a Friday night in any other club. House, Hip-Hop and lots of general dance music. It costs about a fiver to get in on a Friday, usually because a DJ called 'Ddraig' is usually on. And fair play to him, he's a great DJ.

Drinks: Drinks in Time are fairly reasonable. Their shots are superb though, although they can't make a Clubber to save their lives. Its only Vodka Red-Bull damn it!

Atmosphere:The atmosphere in Time is really good. The Dance room is large, dark and usually full of smoke, and the Curved room is large, bright and stinking of stale lager. You generally get a better atmosphere on Mondays because of the large number of people who go there, and because everyone's happy they don't have to pay. Plus the music really is great on Monday.

Special: The Stage is Times secret weapon. Here you can dance in front of loads of people, just that little bit higher. My best memory of Time is dancing to YMCA with Jess, at the very front of the stage. I have never been that synchronised with anyone before. I'm a shit dancer. Unless Timberlake is on. Ha-Ha.

And now for our next contender....

Octagon
The Octagon is possibly the oldest Club in Bangor. Having gone through two face-lifts in my lifetime alone, the place is beginning to show its age. It usually costs about £3-7 to get in, and drinks are quite cheap here too. Apparently you can get 12 bottles for under a tenner or something. The music here is House, Hip-Hop and then Hard-House by the end of a Friday/Saturday night. There are two bars, one at both ends of the main dance floor. Apparently, there is also a Chill-out room called Bliss in the Octagon, but I have never seen it open.

Music:Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights all have their fair share of good music, although it is generally House and stuff. I will admit that I like House music as I used to listen to it religiously when I first got a CD player. It just brings up good memories for me, so i'll definietly be seen dancing when something good is on. To the Octagons credit, when I went there for my birthday; someone requested Faithless - Insomnia, which is one of my favourite songs of all time. A Point for the Occy.

Drinks: Drinks in the Occy are kind of expensive compared to Time. However, they do tend to do deals on Shooters and Bottles of V. You don't go to the Occy for a drink and a conversation anyway.

Atmosphere:The atmosphere in the Octagon is generally good, but it can really annoy you sometimes. The really small dance floor pisses me off, and why do they raise half of the floor a few inches higher? I have to say that the Occy employ some of the worst DJ's I have ever heard. They cut in at the really good parts of songs with some stupid comment, and then continue to do this every few minutes. Hang the DJ, Hang the DJ, HANG THE DJ!

Special: Does the Occy have a secret weapon? Apart from having my birthday there... no, not really. In fact, I'm starting to think the Octagon really doesn't like me. From the 6 times i've been there, two of those times have left me really pissed off. Redeem yourself, Octagon.

So, Who Won?

It was all going so well for the Octagon before I remembered how bad the DJs are and the few bad times i've had there. Actually, Time kicked the Octagons arse to within an inch of its life. The ref called the match somewhere during round two, after Time had k.o'ed the Occy with its Stage and 60's/70's night.

The winner, hailing from the bottom of Glanrafon Hill, undefeated in one match, isssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss....

TIME!!!

Congratulations to Time. Someone please sweep the Octagon up.
